Notes from the weekend
• Another fantastic warm up from Poults, the best thing he did all day
• We started well with some slick movement
• Timmy opened the scoring from a short, the Newbury goalie managing to get his toes stuck in the turf – quite an achievement with all that mud in the goalmouth
• New to the 3s Dylan scored from 6 inches, following a good piece of work from Alex, who had a fine game
• Everything was going great guns…………………….then the subs started, we had a bit of a wobble, nothing too dramatic but we suddenly weren’t playing very well
• Newburys captain hit the post, Bambi fell over (surprise)
• they had a few short corners, Tufty expertly stopping one with his foot when it was going well wide
• we got to half time with our 2-0 lead preserved, Poults told us we needed to be “Professional” in the second half – the second best thing he did all day
• a couple more Newbury corners, one hit Bambi’s foot, looping 20 ft in to the air before Toon’s amazing reverse overhead back hand smash on the goal line maintaining our clean sheet
• just as well really, we really needed that two goal cushion as we had another wobble when we started subbing again
• Timmy took a huge hit to the ankle, he bravely carried on, hobbling round for the last 15 minutes
• The professionalism kicked in again, we started playing the ball around again, Tim G and Tufty looked solid in defence
• We had a couple more chances for goals towards the end, including Elliot's attempted sweep, but settled for a great 2-0 win and out came the selfie stick
MOM Toon, for his one and only contribution to the game. Lappin was gutted…………..especially as Chelsea lost in the 94th minute as well
DOD Elliot for missing a sitter, and not joining us for teas (again). Honourable mention to Littleboy, for wanting Disney in the warmup playlist
