M2's go down in hurricane conditions

This match report is sponsored by Patrick Wall - DoD of the game

Biblical, soaking, Katrina, monsoon, wet, "quite nice actually"... Some of the words to describe the conditions up at Bradfield College at 19.00 on Wednesday evening. After a heavily delayed start, where Solloway practiced his knee slides and front crawl on a particularly wet patch. We got underway for a reduced 50 minute game.

It was a tense match, with both teams rotating regularly to keep people from catching pneumonia, however despite the heroics of keeper Ali Allan the match ended 2-0 to the oppo. The boys pushed hard and defended resolutely, with Andy Beaseley just losing out to Ali for MoM. There was tireless running from midfield and forwards in conditions that would add kilograms to your clothes, as well as no need to ever shower again. We were undone by 2 moments of quality from a very experienced side, with Luke Wise taking the return of the Champions League a little too seriously to end up kicking the ball past Ali for their second.

After all was said and done the boys were excited for a curry and some beverages as per our game last year. Onion bhajis were whispered, 3rds in some cases, dares of eat for eat with Greeny coming from Harvey. However, to compound a soggy evening, we turned up and found that there had been a kitchen mix up so no curries had been delivered. The looks of sadness in Pete Young's eyes at this were reminiscent of a puppy in a rescue shelter. While Dobbie, who had been roped in last minute on the promise of curry and beer showed the true look of an angry Glaswegian. Needless to say, Patrick Wall got DoD for overpromising and underdelivering (story of my life) in an almost unanimous vote. The boys stayed for a beer though and it was great to laugh at the whole experience.

We have been promised a do-over in January, with extra curry just in case.

Bring on Milton Keynes in the league opener on Saturday!
