After a tremendous season, Sonning Men's 1's returned to the pitch after a long summer break. With a new captain in place (Toby) and Simon returning as coach.

With a new league after last season's promotion, Sonning faced against last year's bitter rivals who were after revenge. After speculation that they sent further scouts to come watch Sonning's pre-season, everyone involved knew they would come out strong.

Poor passes and lack of cohesion in the new structure meant that Sonning were powerless in a first half to forget. After not losing a single game last year Abingdon couldn't believe their luck when they went four nil up at the break.

Simon provided the team with some tactical changes to the press at the half team talk and that allowed Sonning to gain more control in the second half. With this in place a more balanced half occured and Sonning were able to win the second half 1-0 courtesy of a drag flicking lesson by Sharpy (I hope Callum learnt something from the video recording).

Final score 4-1 to Abingdon.
