Sonning Ladies 5s fielded a mixed side from last years 4bs and 5s plus 3 new players
for this warm up friendly.
Reliable defenders Lynn Carpentier and Bridget Ramsey directed the squad, ably assisted
by strong dominant distribution from experienced supplier Lisa Meadows.
Midfielders Alice Summerfield and Emily Larsen were keen with initial slicing through balls to waiting forwards
Kay Robinson & Kim Rideout. But Wycombe were persistent and went 1-0 up with attacking 3 against 2.
Sonning re grouped at half time and came out fighting. Georgia Dixon proved solid switching from the left to right midfield
and was rewarded helping set up Kim's perfectly timed square pass just inside the D for new player Emma Colton to
pounce and bury it for an equalizer.
Sonning were re energized. Megan, Emily, Georgia and Alice all worked very hard to contain possession.
Wycombe quickly tried to counter attack, but were cut out by strong interception from Izzy Wooldridge
and new player Layla Robinson. It was a challenge to jell prominently with new faces in the squad, but Sonning were determined to
take the game back to Wycombe and GK for the day Amanda MacDonald didn't let them down with 3-4 hard saves from the oppo's forwards.
Slick regular playing experience won the day towards the end when Wycombe finished the game with 2 further goals.
However Sonning can take pride from their efforts and feel optimistic for the season ahead with new talent and strengthening existing club players throughout.
Man of the Match went to Emma Colton (perfect debut), with Emily, Amanda & Georgia gaining multiple nominations.
