Aussie game plan

Out in Woop Woop (aka Milton Keynes wherever that is) the 1’s went to play a rearranged match on a grey and breezy arvo (coz of a frozen pitch in late November).

After the usual pregame shenanigans aka dunny stops, trackie-daks drops and a yabber, the team burst onto the field like a bunch of galahs. Warm up for the team was pretty alright, with everyone focusing on the aims we had set at training and in the pre match talk. In particular was an improvement in our results when in our attacking 25. This was clearly taken to heart by Pommie Kev (what a Ding bat) who sent a scorcher in the warm up game while the umpire was standing in the goal. To his credit he didn’t flinch though that's prob coz the shot was so off target.

So onto the game. The team were first to get on the scoreboard with a Mevin completed by Pom Frankie at the 10th minute. The team kept the tempo up and were soon rewarded with a corker of a toma by Pommie Kev.

After a few unconverted shortcorners the team earned another shortly before half time. This time we went for a left slip and shot. Pommy KP gave it a crack but it was saved, but “The Aussie” on the post was quick on the rebound and slotted it in. 3-0 at half time, we were rapt.

Second half start was a bit slower and the opposition were awarded a short corner where they scored their own mevin. Game proceded on and another short corner was awarded to Sonning. A right slip and shot from Wendy hit the right post which deflected over to “The Aussie” on the left post who pushed it in. 4-1 to Sonning. The other team got a green card at some point for being agro but our team stayed cool and no one spat the dummy.

Other memorable moments were Kev running onto the wrong half of the pitch when subbed on and Pikey's yell of I can't run that fast! Onya for trying mate!
