Sonning Girls overcome Reading

Okay, so it was the headline that I never got to write myself but this was a superb performance from the entire team to finish off the season third in the League.
The team have come a long way from the start of the season with the ball being passed good distances all over the pitch. Alice and Jorja were always strong in the middle of the field but are now joined by Meg and Mia who are now stronger on the ball. The likes of Bronwyn, Katie, Freya MT and Bo have now developed good little tricks to beat opponents and take the ball past them. Ellie, Izzy and Charlotte have improved their stopping but as importantly their ball pace whilst The Twins and Izzy B are following in Freya N’s footsteps showing a lot more composure on the ball, taking her time and getting their passes away.
Back to the actual game, Alice bossed the midfield from the start but bobbled her short corner shot allowing Freya MT to finish nicely high into the net at the far post. Reading managed to get back level with their first attack of the game, a fine initial stop from Ellie was followed up by Reading deflecting a shot in off a Sonning stick. Freya MT got another good goal and Bo finally managed to put away one of her many chances. Katie was the star: scoring from a 30 yard run, getting two great shots off from the top of the D and also sweeping the ball in nicely after a pullback from the base line – a chip off the old block 
