Ollie delivers a beauty!

There were so many headlines that I could have used this week, but this felt like the right one to go for. Congratulations to Ollie and family on the birth of Stephanie from the M7s. And more later!

Who are the Mighty 7s? Well this week we weren't quite sure. Manflu, achilles, detention and demands from up the club made this week's line-up a challenge for hard working Alison - our thanks as ever. Our secret goalie, friends from afar, a Facebook cry for help and three debut performances saw us putting out a very different crew who did the team and club proud.

After a 13-0 stuffing by the M6s last week, Aylesbury M5s were looking for some Sonning blood. Having said that the game was played in good spirit, was end to end and both sides had opportunities.

Our debutantes, Chris, Ollie and Dean, together with guests, Joe and Stuart were constantly pressing the Aylesbury defence and midfield, ably supported by our colts, Nathan and Hugh.

At the back, Russ, Steve and Andy, with Diggers giving some well needed stability in front. A first class performance from our goalie was upset by Steve "the hand of God" Old's deflection into the net. 1-0 at half time.

The second half was equally fast paced, but we were under more pressure as Aylesbury found more space. Simon "0.5" C arrived to give some more energy. Short corners at each end followed - although we didn't really know how to attack them - we are pretty good at defending them! A second goal against us could have spelled trouble, but we remained strong and our spirit shone through. This paid off as Ollie stuck one in the back of the net - what a beauty!

Despite the loss, so pleased with the overall team performance, the effort level remained high and I couldn't have asked for more from the team. Once again, we all had fun! Thanks again for all our guest players.
