Key match at the wrong end of the table

After winning the last two encounters against Aylesbury, the 5s approached this away fixture with high hopes, although with several core players unavailable, they were playing with some new members who had stepped up from lower teams.
Sonning started slowly, not helped by two missing players who were delayed by an unreliable French car and missed the first twenty minutes.

Despite this, Sonning retained their good humour and enthusiasm and after a few shaky minutes finding their feet, the team got into a rhythm and once they found it they started to play the ball up the pitch with confidence and strength.
After several foiled attacks, Sonning managed to find the back of the net after a quick breakaway to go 1-0 up. A little while later, a goal in open play extended the lead to end the half 2-0 up.

After a stirring half-time talk that reset the score to 0-0, Sonning went back out to prove a point and owned the pitch. After going 3-0 up and starting to look like winners a goal was finally conceded to leave the score 3-1.

Adopting the principle that last goal wins the game, Sonning worked as a team and strung together some winning passes to fire another shot past the disheartened Aylesbury goalie and end the game with a convincing 4-1 victory.
