5s plot revenge against Maidenhead

At 9:45 the officials were pondering if we could play the match. The officials and captains agreed that it was safe to play.

At 10:30 sharp the match started and Sonning were passing the ball well. A great run by Chris 'Pillowcase' Priestley resulted in a pass to Grant "Striker" Strudley. who then went straight past a defender and laid off the ball to Elliott "Woeful Wardrobe" Wise who was at the top of the 'D' who took one touch and smashed it into the top right hand corner. Sonning were doing a lot better than when the teams last met at the start of the season (albeit missing a GK that day) when they lost 3-1. Sonning were passing the ball around brilliantly, and after a decent spell of possession Ian Hadland passed a great through ball to Chris "Pillowcase" Priestley who was in space in the 'D' and slotted it passed the GK who stood still, 2-0 to Sonning.

At half time Sonning 5s were very happy with how things were looking, and Max "Captain Fantastic" Phippard calmed the team down and asked the team to keep their heads and to continue the second half in the same manner as the first.

The second half began and Sonning were not letting Maidenhead touch the ball, and then a brilliant ball by Neil "Puffing" Pipe to Sam "DOD" Boseley who ran down the right wing, who in turn made a great cross to Matt "Denchman" Denham who was running to the penalty spot and managed to place it beyond the keepers left, 3-0 to Sonning.

Maidenhead had now stirred into action and were eager to get at least a consolation goal, and they were now the team passing the ball around Sonning just as they had been succumbed to previously. They managed to get themselves a short corner, from which they managed to get just past Mitchell "Mugger" Miller 3-1 to Sonning.

Right after this Sonning captain Max "Captain Fantastic" Phippard made a brilliant run through the middle, who then laid it off to Grant "Striker" Strudley whom had a shot saved by the Maidenhead GK who in turn parried it to Elliott "Woeful wardrobe" Wise, who tapped it home to make it 4-1 to Sonning.

Next Matt "Denchman" Denham made a fantastic run down the wing and put in a brilliant pass towards Elliott "Woeful wardrobe" Wise, where upon a defender intercepted the ball with his feet, this resulted in a short corner that sadly didn't result in anything, The final whistle then sounded, with Sonning more than matching their opponent in a really great win.
