5's Comeback to Seal First Win of Season.
A lovely Saturday morning and Aylesbury awaited a much changed Sonning fifth team. The game started well with Hadders and Rich Boyden controlling the middle of the park. A goal quickly followed with Chris Goslar capitalising from a defensive mistake.
Unfortunately, we lost focus and concentration for the next 15 minutes and found ourselves deservedly 2-1 behind. With the team lacking some energy Matthew Denham was summoned from the bench and after good work from Grant Strudley scored a neat deflection just before half time.
After a stern team-talk at the break from the skipper we were much more assured and dominated the second half. Special mention to Chris who ran tirelessly the entire game and kept us on the front foot. The winner eventually arrived with Grant scoring a strikers goal (1 yard tap-in). There were a few close moments down the other end to follow but the Sonning defense held strong to secure a 3-2 win.
Overall, a good game to win and nice to get some points on the board. Bring on Bracknell next week!
