5s finish pre season in style

The Sonning 5ths ended their pre-season with a great victory against Aylesbury.
Sonning played well in the first half with both teams having chances but the defenders Craig Strudley, Tyler Churchill, Paul Cutler and Kevin Mist held strong stopping Aylesbury from scoring . Unfortunately Aylesbury managed to get a penalty flick following a short corner which hit Syed Hassan’s foot on the line. The keeper Matt Rado manage to parried the ball wide. Later on in the first half Grant Strudley managed to get past the defender receiving a pass from Elliott Wise which resulted in the Aylesbury keeper making a good save. Aylesbury managed to get a few penalty corners in the first half and nearly scored with one shot just going above the backboard. At the end of the half Sonning managed a good attempt with Elliott Wise managing to take a shot on resulting in a good stop from the Aylesbury defender before clearing.

At half time the team talk was about options for attacking. Grant Strudley passed to Ian Hadland (Hadders) passing it the around resulting in a lovely pass to Ed Goodall who ran it pass the defence returning a pass to Grant. Grant took a shot which the defence managed to block, the rebound went straight to Elliott who shot resulting in the keeper made a good save. However Ed Goodall ran straight into the box and pushed it past the keeper putting Sonning ahead.

Sonning controlled the game after this with Syed Hassan, Paul Cutler and Kevin Mist holding and controlling the game. After a Sonning attack Aylesbury counter attacked resulting in a stick challenge giving Aylesbury another penalty flick. The flick was to the top right hand corner which forced keeper Matt Rado to make a fantastic save stretching his arm to stop it going in.

Following this Sonning were inspired and they pushed forward , where Grant Strudley took a hit, a lovely pushed shot past the keeper making it 0 – 2.

A few minutes later Tyler Churchill made a fantastic run passing a player and delivering a pass to Ben Berryman who laid it off to Grant. Grant took the shot what was saved by the Aylesbury keeper but the rebound went straight to Elliott Wise who slapped it in the bottom left corner.

A well-deserved win by Sonning 5’s who passed the ball well around the Aylesbury team. Matt (keeper) got man of the match for his two penalty flick saves.
