Big Test for 5XI

Saturday 20th September Sonning 5’s vs Oxford 6’s

The second friendly for the 5’s this time against Oxford. With only half of the oppositions team turning up. As the Sonning 4’s game ended we suddenly realised that the game was going to be a tough one with half the opponent’s players staying on the pitch. The first half started with Oxford running our team tiring us all out. Substitutions were rolling quite frequently. A lot of the first half play was in our half with several short corners and many shots on goal. Furthermore we had Sam (who decided to break in his new astros at a game) on the side line looking for tape for his blisters after his shoes flew off. This ended the first half with Sonning down 3-0. The Second half was much more beneficial for Sonning. With Ian, Tyler, Craig, Kevin and Paul in defence holding the short corners with Matt in goal. Elliot, Captain Max, Neil and Ed where holding the middle and supporting the defence whenever needed and up front was Sam, Matthew and Marcus striking the oppositions goal. We finally realised the opposition’s strategy we held off and kept a clean sheet for the second half.
