A typically blustery Henwick Hill greeted us on our trip to Thatcham and we managed to delay them whilst Ali "stuck in traffic" Allan made a late arrival. They had goalie trouble of their own, the rumour being he hadn't played in goal much, so we planned to pepper him with shots
Once the game started it was clear thus plan wasn't going to come to light as the ball spent the majority of the time in between the two 25s for the first half. The exception being Toon putting a shot wide from 5 yards with only two defenders to beat. Dan was running things nicely in the midfield and the defence were rarely troubled in a lively but goalless first half. Will got the first of his cards for kicking the ball back to the opposition at a free hit - a tad harsh but rules are rules
N&T were disappointed with their first half performance seeing as they are 10 places above us and came out swinging in the second half. We nullified all that though as things got tasty, Toon having to fill in at right back for a second time with Will getting another green for a hack, not at all harsh this time.
We rode our luck at times with Ali making claim to MOTM with a couple of saves and then a great triple save with about ten minutes to go. Their keeper showed his naivety by kicking a ball out to Cowper when it was going off for a sixteen. The ball was squared to Elliot with an open goal begging from the top of the D, who then showed his lack of striking ability by slowballing his shot which looked great until the keeper redeemed himself with a full length dive
Good performance, we probably shaded it but a point at thatcham is never a bad thing
MOTM Dan, again, getting a bit boring now
