Hawks (0) v Mens 3's (2)

The Hawks started off pressing us high with their young forward line - it looked like we were in for a long afternoon. However, with our first attack of the day 5 mins in, Salter started winding up for a reverse shot....on the run..........everyone was thinking it........... "what's he doing" and then somehow, he pulled off an amazing goal, past the keeper and just inside the post - 1-0 to us.
A few minutes later and the long afternoon was back on, Thompson squealing in pain as his hamstring went whilst stretching for a tackle, down to 11 men. Howeevr, our defensive attacking strategy was paying off, quite solid at the back (with a few nervous moments obvs) and then trying to find Elliot to "Run Weiss Run" like a headless chicken into the far corner of the pitch. This continued until half time
Second half we were even more under the cosh, Salter and Boseley forced backwards into defence, Bridges tackling getting more and more wild. We showed fairly good composure though, managing to play our way out just enough to give Colin, Matt and Bambi some breathing time in defence. Fortunately the aforementioned Oxford forward line were very skilful but didn't seem to like getting in the D and shooting so we kept them at bay.
With 5 mins to go they removed their goalie and went for 11 outfield players which seemed brave but played into our hands nicely as we won a shortie with 2 mins to go; Toon just about managed to get his flick airbourne long enough to bounce before the defender, over his stick into the net and seal the deal
