Banbury 3s (1) v Sonning M3s (1)

Okay, we didn't actually beat them, but considering we lost up there 12-0 last year (although quite what one of their scorers was doing in their first team photo escapes me - not that I'm bitter) this was a great result. The equaliser we got with about 5 minutes to go was celebrated with some girlie screaming, stick throwing and air punching. This was as much to do with the exuberance of our new "youth first" policy as it was the fact that we'd all had a beer or two before the game because we arrived at the pitch a massive THREE hours before push back time as the time on the website was incorrect.
We have found a few new players for the Mens 3s which means that we are slightly quicker around the pitch than last year. This is giving us far more composure on the ball as we have more time to find our passes. it's not the finished article by any means as the raw talent of Colm's brother Harry proves but Alex, Sam, Joe and Billy bring the average aim of the team down quite considerably so hopefully this blend of youth and experience will turn around the fortunes of the team after three very hard seasons.
I think we deserved to be on top at half time as we controlled the first half nicely, created a few good opportunities but couldn't put the ball away. The second half was more even, mainly as we tired due to our only sub having to drive all the way back home without even playing due to our timetable incident. Banbury got a strange goal from a shortie, deflecting off our foot over Pondys left shoulder and confused expression. We kept going though and were finally rewarded with a great deflection from Harry after Elliot and Jacob worked a short corner routine nicely at the top of the D.
