Nightmare for the 2's
Alarm bells ringing for the 2's
The 2's went into Saturday's game knowing that only would a win do and nothing but. However things didn't get off to the best of starts when Jonty was stolen by 1's never to be seen playing again for the 2's.
This left a massive hole in the back line and in the 2's short corner routine, but confidence was still high knowing that the team they were playing were routed in the relegation zone of the league.
With the game not long away from the start, the team was still missing Neil who it seemed hadn't set an alarm for an earlier than usual morning push back time of 10am.
It seemed that all the 2's players hadn't woken from their sleep as their sluggish start left them a goal behind at half time.
A team talk at half time from the Skipper did seem to awaken the team, but the 2nd half got underway and a promising start was all thrown away when a counter attack gave the away side a two goal lead.
Desperate times meant desperate measure which for their short corner Luke decided to take his turn between the posts, diving across the goal to getting connection with the ball on his goal line with his stick, just to then come off his shoulder and to safety and with that went the game as the away team went three clear from the P-Stroke that followed
A consolation goal from Stoney didn't do much to derail the away side as they were then awarded another P-Stroke, Luke again the saviour but without his stick.
Bondy not to be denied the limelight by Stoney's consolation stepped up and saved with his feet, good thinking from the now 2nd team goalie (who knows).
MOM - Nathan; for great defensive ability and composure on the ball.
DOD - Luke; somehow getting it, even though he set his alarm (maybe bringing his stick would have helped).
