With a 3 o’clock push back second week running, Sonning were well prepared for the big match, (apart from Tamps who had a cold) – unfortunately the games before us started late so we only had 5 minutes of pitch time to prepare.
Alas, being the professionals that we are, Sonning came out of the blocks running and George Allner put sonning in front. Some questionable defending, mainly by the fake wall of China, who found it hard to stay on his feet, allowed a goal to slip – it was a hard one, but Goalkeeper Alastair Allan did try his best.
Fortunately for him, that was the last save he had to make (until Sunday) – Sonning stepped it up 6 gears and started to pile on the pressure. Two world-class goals from Jimmy made it 3-1. From there the game was over.
Sharpy scored two absolute blinders, and Matt Poulton netted in style to make it 7 – Sonning’s first win of the season!
Short corner routines worked well – mainly down to Santa’s contribution of watering the pitch before the match.
Poults missed a fair few chances – let’s hope next week brings him more joy.
