#1 League Match

First league match back for the Sonning Ladies 4’s and it was to be a test of fitness, with only 11 players available ... but luckily two wonderful vets players benched for us last minute. Thank you Sue Hicks & Woffers!

Game face prep began with the farmyard warm up (standard 4’s behaviour) a new mantra ‘lets get it on’ & fag stop ... right READY! PB.... Within two minutes a lucky break from the ‘maids’ as they kept screaming and a sadly for us Sonning ladies a very unlucky goal. Heads held high we battled on, continuing to be absolutely solid in defence from our back line up. Impressive team work at the back from Lynne, Vanessa, Claire & Jen ... not to mention our superstar keeper Katie. Cath Dale made a fantastic first appearance playing bottom of the diamond, albeit possibly time to invest in some Astros as a bit too much astro surfing :-) We got to half time with a 1-0 score line.

Back onto the second half and it was definitely a defensive half. Sonning had a few attacking breaks with some impressive sprinting & even won a short corner. Sterling work in mid field from our colts Ailsa & Hannah & centre mid Emily kicked in to force second half with her hockey rage, driving us to the right end of the pitch and giving us chances that were most certainly deserved. It was not to be though and we ended the match a sad 3-0 loss.

We may have lost the match but we displayed an awesome level of fitness, some great skill and unity as a team. Bring it on girls – LETS GET IT ON!
