Wychwood made the journey to RG4 this weekend to take on the SL3s.
The game plan was simple...start strong, stay strong.
SL3s were in good spirits and were determined to win, having seen ladies 1s,2s and 4s bring home the 3pts.
SL3s executed the game plan from the off...speed of play was quick, running off the ball was effective and distribution of the ball grew as the game progressed.
Early in the first half SL3s were awarded a penalty corner. With an ACCURATE injection from Grove-Smith (she's getting there!) the ball was controlled at the top of the D by Swanborough who slipped the ball to Willers for a cheeky 1-2 and thankfully the SL3s captain slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.
A few moments later in open play Thompson played a lovely ball from the top of the D past the goal keepers right foot, extending the lead - 2-0.
The 2nd half required SL3s to execute the same game plan...opposition now tired SL3s had the run of play. With storming runs from Grove-Smith down the right and a number of options created in the middle by Thompson & Willers, Wychwood didn't have a chance.
SL3s defence led by Goddard were strong, dependable and were able to distribute the ball around the back with accuracy, allowing the midfield to tear up the opposition. With Jenkins putting a shift in on the left the ball was transferred with ease.
With 15 minutes to spare Thompson trapped the ball just outside the D, with space in front of her she took it into the D and had a shot on goal which rose 2 metres off the ground...with the ball looking like it was going out of play Jenkins picked the ball out of the air and 'slam dunked' it into the back of the goal....SL3s win 3-0!
