It was never intentional???!!

Forget the FA Cup re-plays, local derby’s, international knock outs, it was Sonning vs Witney. Sonning Ladies 3s travelled all the way to Witney. On paper a match we should lose, with goal difference on their side plus the 4 places above us in the league.
With a strong 11 Sonning travelled to Witney in the hope of raising their game – playing against a superior team has that effect on people – doesn’t it??!
So the game begins, Witney score an early goal due to sheer pace from their midfield and timed passing between their forwards – a surprising goal seeing as they were not controlling the game. Sonning held it together building in confidence and settled into the new formation.
Unfortunately Sonning give away 1 too many penalty corners and Witney take full advantage of the set pieces, and even when they were off target Kelly was there to help, deflecting the goals in past her own Keeper – 2 in 2 games Kelly!!! Those reading this would be right to hedge their bets that Kelly would be a sure contender for Muff….just you wait!!!
So we start the 2nd half, 4 or 5 goals down….our focus was to keep applying the pressure as cracks were appearing in the Witney side.
With an excellent ball from Eithne up the right wing, Pollard driving the ball to the back line and popping it across the goal it was anyone’s ball – but it HAD to be Sonnings, and that’s exactly who’s it was, a scramble with the goal keeper and a reverse stick scoop into the goal Jordy narrows the score line by 1 goal.
Witney unimpressed, they make a surge in driving the balls high up the pitch – lucky for us Willers has it covered and makes cracking contact with the ball nudging it from our defending circle off the side line – PENALTY FLICK (%$!@).
(Cue - stunned faces, gasps from both teams, comments made and Willers is given a YELLOW!!!
Cue - ‘im not ‘aving this’ Lorraine, as she demands to know the umpires reasoning….welcome YELLOW No. 2 – Sonning now down to 9!!
Cue - ‘I don’t get it, what was it awarded for’ Jordy – GREEN card
To top it off Pollard gets a GREEN for good measure)
Oh and Witney score the flick……………………
Final score: Witney 6 – Sonning 1 (Sonning Ladies 3s won the second half – with 9 players)
