Brilliant 4-4 draw against the league leaders

The omens were not particularly encouraging before this game:
- Sophie suffered a freak electricity cut which nearly deprived her team mates of delicious muff cakes
- Sophie and Coops both forgot their yellow kit due to a heinous lack of CAPITALS in the fixtures email
- and the small matter of playing top of the league away, with 4/4 wins, an average score of 7 goals per game and just one goal conceded

Despite all that the spirit in the changing room was upbeat and relaxed, buoyed by some wise words from coach Chris the team started the game confident that anything was possible (and perhaps also eager to avoid a punishing running session on Weds).

Within 5 minutes super keeper Amy set the tone by making a effortless penalty stroke save. Boom!

Another 5 minutes and Captain Lorraine used the bouncy power of the pitch and banged home a short corner. In her usual demure way, she refrained from performing a samba in front of the watching A&C fans. Shame. Sonning were 1-0 up!

A&C did show a little of their mettle after this, bringing the game to 3-1 over the following 15 minutes. However, the mighty ladies 2s were not to be subdued and they pressed, hassled and triple-teamed their way back to 3-3 at half time following a very composed goal from Lorraine and a short corner conversion from Mei.

The wind blew harder in the second half and spurred Sonning on with the defence making some game saving tackles and interceptions. The whole team kept up their impressive efforts giving A&C no chance to lift their heads and play their own game, and after 50 mins they were rewarded with a proper team goal which started from Lars, moved through the tireless Sophie, on to Emily who skilled the ball to Coops who anti-skilled it in. Get in - 4-3 up!

If only the game was only 68 minutes long. A&C sneaked a point with an admittedly good goal in the last 2 minutes.

We weren't entirely sure why Lorraine seemed so angry at the end of the game as she threw her stick, swore and fell down in a heap. Turns out she thought the score was 5-4 to them.
