A whopping 8 home games on offer this weekend, plus the final club night of the season, and the mixed team looking to progress in the national plate

What promises to be a massive day for the Mighty Ning kicks off early doors with a double header, with both the Men's 1s and 3s in action simultaneously at the Doom Bar Arena and Reading sand pitch respectively.

The 1s face probably their biggest game of the season so far, against fellow relegation battlers Marlow 2s. The reverse fixture was a scrappy affair, with the Ning not doing themselves justice, and eventually succumbing to a narrow 1-0 loss. A win would see the 1s move further away from the bottom of the table, and drastically increase their chances of staying in the league next year.

Meanwhile, the 3s will be looking to further cement their solid mid-table league position, while also doing the 2s a favour in their quest for promotion, by beating visitors Abingdon 1s. The previous fixture ended in a stalemate at 2-2, so the 3s will be hoping that they can get that extra edge this time around.

Up next at Fortress Sonning, the Ladies' Vets take on a Wycombe 5s team that currently sits bottom of the table. However, nothing can be taken for granted, as Wycombe ran out 1-0 winners last time around. The Vets' position in the league should be secure, but a win would all but guarantee it.

Hot on their heels are the Ladies' 3s, who will be looking for a repeat of the last time they took on visitors Milton Keynes 2s. A 3-1 victory fell their way on that occasion. MK have been in strong form since then, however, only losing 2 of their 7 games so far this year, so a tough challenge awaits.

Whilst the L3s are playing, the Ladies' 4s will be getting underway over at the Reading Uni pitch - such is the demand for pitch space on this hectic Saturday! - against Scarlett Runners 1s. The visitors have lost their last 6 games, whilst the 4s have drawn their last 3 - something's got to give, and the 4s will be hoping that they can do the double, and add to the 2-1 victory they picked up last time these teams faced off.

Back at the Doom Bar Arena, the Ladies' 5s are the next in action, as they take on Buckingham 4s. The 5s were unable to compile a team for the reverse fixture, resulting in a 3-0 walkover to Buckingham. Whilst there is no relegation from this league, the 5s will still be looking for the win to distance themselves from the bottom.

The final slot of the day sees another double header, with the Men's 7s taking on local rivals and high flying Phoenix & Ranelagh 3s. Revenge will be on the cards for the 7s, as a 5-0 loss was suffered last time, but that may prove to be a tough ask, as the guests have won their last 8 matches.

Last, but by no means least, over on the Reading sand based pitch, the Men's 5s will be taking on Oxford 7s in another crunch match in the battle to avoid relegation. Oxford currently sit in the danger zone, but the 5s are only 3 points ahead. A repeat of the last fixture, where Oxford ran out 4-0 winners, would see the 5s be leapfrogged, and possibly slip into the relegation zone. A victory, however, would leave the 5s feeling much more comfortable.

That brings to an end the hockey schedule for Saturday, but the action doesn't end there! Being the first Saturday of the month, it's also club night. It's the final one of the season, so should see a good turn out. It's a races night, so don your flat caps and tweed jackets, and come down for a chance to win some money, as well as having a great time with your fellow club mates.

Finally, on Sunday, our mixed team will be looking to progress in the national plate competition, as they travel to Eastcote. Best of luck guys!

Hope to see you all on Sat
