Match report

In the heat of the hottest day of the year so far, the England Hockey staff's mixed team & the Sonning HC mixed superstars took to the fortress that is Sonning Lane.

In a game of two halves, the ball was end to end, with chances at both ends of the pitch. However, it was the superstars that took the lead through a wonder strike from Eddie Butler - showing the younger generations how it's done!

The half-time lead of 1-0 was short lived though, as the England staff put on the pressure early on in the second half & a well-worked team goal got them back on level terms.

It was again end to end play, and a foot on the line gave the Superstars a chance to take the lead once again through a penalty-flick. Unfortunately Kathryn Petch was still recovering from the world-renowned Sonning Hockey festival last weekend & the ball went wide... Unlucky!

Hockey was eventually the winner, as the game ended 1-1. It was a great evening though & lots of fun. Thanks must go to Mac & Timmy Preston for organising. Bring on the re-play on the 17th!

(Thanks also to everyone that played. There were some great skills out there Ningers! However, notable mention must go to 'Tigs' for stepping into the goalie role & doing a grand job!)
