L1s represent the Ladies' Section on this Spooky Saturday!

Happy Halloween everyone! Week 6 and it will feel a little quieter at on Sonning lane this week as most of the Ladies teams have break in the season. The men are still going strong with three teams at home and three away this weekend.

Home Fixtures

Sonning’s Men’s 2s start off the weekend fixtures with the 10:30 push back against Marlow 2s. The Sonning men earnt their first points of the season last weekend, hammering Oxford 2s 4-1 on their own turf following a brace from Harvey Richardson. The 2’s will be looking to carry their form through to this weekend against a Marlow team currently sitting 6th in the table, 5 points ahead of Sonning.

The Men’s 6s are currently 10th in the league with 3 points and take on Amersham and Chalfont 7’s who are currently 2nd in the league on 12 points. Phil Cooper is the current “danger man” with goals in each of the past two games. The 6s occupy the 12:00 push back.

The Men’s 4s host Thame 2s this weekend at 13:30. The 4’s are the only Men’s team without a win to their name this season with 3 draws and one loss from their 4 opening fixtures. Thame currently sit 5th in the league with 8 points whilst Sonning are 8th on 3 points.

Away Fixtures

The Men’s 1s travel away to Newbury and Thatcham this weekend for an 11:00 Pushback. The Men’s 1s have not claimed a point in the league since their opening game of the season. This week could be the chance to get some more points on the board as they take on a Newbury and Thatcham team currently sitting 11 th in the league with just a single point to their name. Both teams were on the wrong side of the 4-0 score line last weekend and will be viewing this weekend’s fixture as a huge opportunity.

The Ladies 1s are away to Sailsbury at 11:30. Their unbeaten streak ended last weekend, the frustrating game finished 3-1. Despite a determined team effort, Southgate stole all 3 points. A disallowed goal from Katie Pake and a goal line save from Maipo Wan represents just some of the drama that unfolded. They rack up even more miles this week travelling away to Salisbury. Sonning currently sit in 2nd in the league while their opposition is just behind them in 3rd adding further importance to the game.

Fixture of the day - Sonning’s Men’s 3s are away to Newbury and Thatcham this weekend for a mid-table clash at 12:30. Both teams are level in the league on 7 points, only goal difference separates the two. Tim Greenbank will be looking to carry last weeks from into the game following his first man of the match performance of the season.

The final game of the day see’s the Mighty Men’s 5s travel to Eastcote for a 15:30 pushback. The 5s have bagged 3 wins from 5 and sit comfortably in 4th position, 2 points ahead of this weekend’s rivals.

It’s half term for all other Ladies’ sides this week which means no games. The Ladies 2s fell 2-1 away at Henley last weekend, but a great win for the Ladies 3s has fired them from 12th to 7th in the league. The Ladies 4s remain unbeaten in the league so far, the only Ladies’ side to still hold this record. The Ladies 5s friendly resulted in a loss last week but newbie Bethan Machin gave a great player of the match performance. A good win for the Ladies 6s last week showcasing lots of talent from our colts’ section. Enjoy the week off ladies!

To all, all the best for the weekend ahead.
