Ladies 1s player Katharine Pike (Pikey) reports on her recent triumphant matches for the England over 45 squad.

The last weekend in June saw the Women's Masters Four Nations tournament and Pikey (Katharine Pike) was selected for the 2nd year to the England Over 45 squad.

The squad were defending champions following last years undefeated performance in Dublin.

This year all the womens Masters teams headed for Swansea University for 3 days of competition.

The Over 45s opened up against Ireland and with a squad containing 2 members of the 1992 GB Olympic bronze medal winning squad (Lisa Prince and Kath Johnson) and with a couple of National League forwards, England were on top early on and secured a convincing 6-0 win.

The 2nd game was a 9am start against Scotland and the coach wanted a fast start and set a target of 2 goals inside the first 10 mins. The target was smashed - 2 goals inside 5 mins and 3 up on 9 mins. The game ended with another 6-0 victory.

The final match was the final game of the day and before starting England knew they were champions. However, with the Welsh to play, England were determined to finish the tournament undefeated.

A great start saw plenty of England pressure but it took some time before they finally scored. The team went 4-0 up but then conceeded their first goal to end the game at 4-1.

So a retention of their title was secured and the final day also saw wins for all the England age groups to see a clean sweep for England at Over 40, Over 50 and Over 55.
