Sonning took on Clifton in the EHA Over 35 Trophy, played some great hockey and came away with an emphatic 9-0 win (after being 1-0 at half time - who did the team talk?)

Rather than come up with a match report - here is the commentary from Miche as each goal was scored.

I have also included the commentary between Pikey & AJ at the short corner in the 5th minute of the 2nd half!!

Classics game 9th minute, ball from Shinners crossed in...nicely...from the back line of the D and Coops sweeps it in. Marvellous. Goal 1.

4th minute into the 2nd half, great steal, Jilly drives in and passes it, between AJ & Coops they get it across the line - not quite sure who put it across (Coops - that'll be a pint AJ!).

5th minute short corner, stopped beautifully on the top of the D from a great ball out from Mei, AJ stops it, taps it forward, Pikey hits it - back of the net - goal number 3.

As we were waiting for the short corner, Pikey to AJ "Do you think there is room bottom right?" "There is room". Then the Clifton post player went and stood inside that post - "Is there still room?" AJ: "Yes". As the ball hit the backboard bottom right I turned to AJ and she said "There was room" and we exchanged a high 5.

Great ball. Long corner from Pikey to Fran, Fran takes it to the edge of the D, puts the ball in and .....Jilly Bean gets a great deflection past the keeper - goal number 4.

Couple of great passes, AJ gets the ball just inside the 23, drives it in, puts it under the keeper - great stuff.

Shinners passed to....AJ...AJ does a little dink across and Coops scores

26th minute, Jilly Bean picks the ball up on the halfway line, dribbles with a-ma-zing skill, straight down the middle and puts it away. Incredible goal.

1 -2 - 1 -2 Jilly Bean AJ Jilly Bean AJ back of the net. Fantastic.

Final play of the game, short corner AJ stops, Pikey receives, gives it to .......Fran, .....don't know.... but Fran passes it, Shinners puts it away. Goal. End of the game.

In between the goals there was some good defending, especially in the first half, and the midfield 5 always looked to break up the Clifton attacks and start a Sonning attack.

Man of the match was AJ.
