SONNING 3 - 0 HARROW
6th October 2007

You'll have heard by now that we won our first match of the campaign 3-0, versus Harrow 3rds - a solid victory and a good performance throughout the team.

Given that we had a mixture of players from last season + a few from higher teams (Tom Hurst, Dan Slinger, Mike McGovern) + 4 Colts, I was delighted with how things went. A steady but none-the-less attacking minded start kept Harrow under pressure - our new goalie, Andrew Bowyer, only touched the ball twice in the 1st half just to retrieve it from behind our goal.

The Colts (Jordan Manning, Antony Matheson and new boys Jack Allen & Mark Hansford) all played an important part, with the 2 new lads settling in very quickly on the flanks, chasing back when needed as well as producing lovely runs and crosses into the D.

First half goals from Jordan Manning and a superb individual one from Jack Allen were followed in the 2nd half by one from Dave Latimer. It looked like we'd score more, but goalie heroics, goalposts and the odd miss hit meant we had to settle for the 3. The clean sheet was no fluke either - solid defending gave Andrew an easy morning.

A Colt - Antony Matheson - took Man of the Match for his overall play - great defending, creative interplay with team mates and driving attacks down the flanks.
