The 4th team only lost 3 games last season, 2 of which were to A & C, who ended up pipping us to the league title. We were therefore expecting a somewhat tougher game than we actually got. Where have all their good players gone or were they indeed ringers hired last year for the job of "Nobbling" the mighty Ning?

The game was effectively over as a contest after just a few minutes. Grant Strudley showing good opportunitism to grab a couple of early goals. The pressure was almost relentless and it was really just a case of how many. It was 4 by half time with Grant already having bagged a hat trick and in the second half I somewhat lost count. Apparently the goal scorers were:

    Handford Jr
    Ford (screamer!)
    Pemberton

There were a few moments of note. There was a green card for the oppo and a talking to for Handford Jr and Fordy although it wasn't really a dirty game. Well, most of us weren't dirty - a green card for Skipper Handford cannot go unmentioned. The tackle would not have been out of place a few days earlier on Halloween - it was a shocker. What compounded this indiscretion was the fact that Richard then tried to claim that the green was "given to the whole team". On another day this was an obvious Dick of the Day offence, however, Matt earned this for two missed flicks. To be fair, he was unlucky with the first one............unlucky not to hit the corner flag that is! At least the second was on target but the keeper pulled off a "fine" save. Missing two flicks is one thing but when you have already got two goals that's clear jug avoidance - Dick of the Day in the bag.
 

Man of the Match: Welcome back Dan Slinger! A commanding performance in midfield earned Dan the award narrowly beating Grant in the vote.
