SONNING 0 - 2 SCARLET RUNNERS
17th November 2007

Sonning vets were punished for their now almost customary slow start when not long in the game a free hit just outside the circle was taken quickly by the Runners. In spite of a valiant effort by Ruth Beasley, Runners had the ball in the net while the Vets defence remained static.

Shortly after this Carol Reader was forced to go off after being struck in the face by the ball. Carolynne Woffington was keen to come on, but with last week's injury still niggling, the Captain felt the risk was too great for Carolynne and therefore brought on Kate Aley to play out of her normal central defence position as centre forward.

The vets conceded a further goal from open play to end the first half 0-2 down.

The decision at half time for Karen Vive to mark the Runners play maker out of the game and the fact that she did this brilliantly gave the vets the majority of the play in the second half and they looked certain to claw their way back. Unfortunately the whistle for the end of the game came without a goal so the vets now need to work hard to preserve their chances of promotion at the end of the season.
