A hail shower just prior to the game left us soaked before we started but still raring to go!

The absence of several regular players occasioned a change of playing format which created more space in the defence, but intelligent movement from wing halves Debbie Webb and Jill Grindal managed to bridge the gap.

Sonning failed to capitalise on two early chances and were unable to convert short corner opportunities. Carol Miles continued to time her tackles to deprive the Maidenhead forwards access, and Maidenhead’s short corner chances were also deflected.

The match became quite tense as both sides increased pressure towards the end but neither team could get the result.
