SONNING 4 - 2 BANBURY
26th January 2008
Sonning Ladies 3s lost the home fixture to a lively Banbury side by one goal earlier in the season so were aware that this was going to be a tough game.
The game started evenly, with Sonning breaking the deadlock with a goal from Kelly Corder. Banbury came back quickly to even the score just before half time.
With the luxury of substitutes, Sonning swapped some tired midfield legs around, which seemed to do the trick as Sonning began to dominate the second half.
A goal from Emily Farley, who calmly put the ball through the keeper's legs following a goal mouth scramble, was quickly followed by a great goal from Claire Thrussell, who ran the length of the pitch and shot, to take the score to 1-3.
Banbury soon reacted to this increased pressure by upping their own game to take the score to 2-3 - a little too close for comfort. But not for long as Emma Dalton, wobbled her way into the D, to finish with a great shot from the top to take the score to 2-4.
