SONNING 4 - 2 READING
1st December 2007

This represented the first league return match and a chance for Sonning to redeem their performance at the beginning of the season when Reading Ladies deservedly whopped our ar**s!

The game started evenly, before Claire Thrussell slotted home a loose ball from a short corner to make it 1-0 to Sonning. A further period of Sonning pressure saw Liz-Ann strike home a further goal to make the score 2-0. Reading soon picked up their game and the Sonning defence lost sight of a quick Reading winger who knocked in a cross at the corner post taking the score to 2-1. A super save from keeper Jo Whennall meant that Sonning managed to hold onto their lead as the half-time whistle blew.

Sonning came out for the second half slightly lethargic compared to a renewed Reading side who quickly evened the score to 2-2. Some constructive motivating on the pitch lead by fog horn Jo Whennell (nice to have you back in full voice Jo!) saw the Sonning team really battle to get back into the game. A goal from Jane Walker and a further goal from Liz-Ann saw the game end 4-2 to Sonning.
