SONNING 1 - 1 MILTON KEYNES

Sonning started the game really well, effectively using the press and putting a lot of pressure on the Milton Keynes defence. We were in control of the game for the first 25 minutes of the first half and had many opportunities to open the scoring. We had many opportunities to score but to our frustration we couldn't convert.

Then completely against the run of play, Milton Keynes made a quick break up the pitch and put the ball in the goal to make it 0 -1. This goal seemed to stun the Sonning players into action and from the restart the ball was pushed back and there was some really lovely interplay between Vicki Clark and Wendy Adler, one touch passing followed culminating in a pinpoint pass from Vicky to allow Wendy to slot home the equaliser. Sonning were back in the game only a minute after conceding.

The Milton Keynes players regrouped at half time and began the second half with strongly and didn't allow the Sonning players the same amount of time or space on the ball. Sonning had some short corners and a number of shots from open play but overall the second half was one full of frustration as neither side managed to score again. Although the final score was 1 - 1, earning the Sonning team an important point, we were disappointed to not have secured the home win that our first half dominance had suggested we could achieve.
