SONNING 3 - 1 WOKINGHAM
20th October 2007

Sonning started the game poorly and were under pressure from Wokingham for the first 10 minutes of the game, with wave after wave of attack.

Then Sonning maintained some pressure on the Wokingham goal and were awarded a free hit at the top of the D. Beth took the free hit with a lovely ball to the left post, where Gemma deflected it into the net. 1 - 0.

On the restart, the Sonning pressure continued with some lovely passing moves using the full width of the pitch. There were some nice interchanges between players but the Wokingham defence stood strong until the halftime whistle.

Wokingham started the second half strongly and managed to score an equaliser for their efforts. Sonning then began to get their game together again and managed to win a number of short corners, which unfortunately at this stage in the match they couldn't convert. After more pressure, Sonning were awarded another short corner, which this time was expertly converted by Yasmin. 2-1.

Wokingham didn't give up and came back with more strong attacks on the Sonning goal. The Sonning defence did well to deal with a number of Wokingham short corners. Then, following a quick break and a lovely series of passes across the pitch, a well judged square pass to the top of the D found Yasmin, who scored her second goal in the dying seconds of the match. 3- 1 to Sonning.

This was another hard fought match, played in a great spirit and Sonning were of course delighted to ensure they had earned another 3 points towards this year's league campaign.

Team: Rose Scales; Mei Jones; Caroline Smith; Beth Savory; Sue Patterson; Claire McKewan; Gemma Holmes; Briony Phillips; Sally Tunnicliffe, Marie Tiltman; Yasmin Williams; Kristina Einarrson.

Player of the match: This week it was a tie, with 3 votes each: Marie & Yasmin.

Muff of the Day: As nobody managed to fall over this week and no major bloopers occurred, then it was agreed that it shouldn't be awarded this week. I'm sure we can rectify that for next time!
