Ladies Second XI Results

SONNING 1 - 2 SLOUGH
19th January 2008

The first league game after Christmas was against Slough, ranked second in the league. The first half was close with chances for both sides. But Slough managed to break through our defence and scored twice in the first 25 minutes. Their first goal came from a great solo run from Lesley Hobley and another from a wide shot. Sonning defended strongly overall, keeping out a string of penalty corners. 2-0 at half time to Slough.

The second half saw a strong defensive effort keep Slough frustrated. Sonning started to string together some good passing moves. A fantastic run up the left hand side led to a sweet pass to Yasmin and then some great stickwork from her allowed her to beat the goalie. Great hockey from the Sonning attackers. The score was now 1 - 2 to Slough.

Some more fantastic play had Slough under pressure and then Caroline stopped a threatening push into our 25 and almost got sent off for her great defensive endeavours.

We won the second half and so overall, we were very happy with our performance. Slough are a very strong team and as a result of their win, moved to the top of the league.
