SONNING 1 - 0 HENLEY

The first half was a very tense affair with Sonning and Henley both battling hard to score that all-important first goal. Lucy had a chance in the first five minutes when she was one on one with the Henley keeper, but the keeper pulled off a good save to keep the score level. Sonning's keeper, Rose, made some spectacular saves and with both teams working really hard, the first half ended a very closely-contested 0 - 0.

Sonning lifted their game in the second half, which was majestically accompanied by the sight and sound of local firework displays.

The first goal followed a succession of good passes and culminated with a really probing pass onto the penalty spot from Lucy. Gemma converted expertly with a first time shot and that made the score 1- 0 to Sonning.

The rest of the game saw Henley piling on the pressure and Sonning had to resort at times to some desperate defence, including in the last few seconds a Henley attacker in mid-swing searching for the equaliser but Briony came charging in and skilfully stole the ball, just seconds before the final whistle.

Sonning managed to hold them off and with the final whistle coming as a bit of a relief, 3 points were safely achieved. Final score was 1-0 to Sonning.
