SONNING 2 - 2 READING
27th October 2007

Building on 2 convincing wins, Sonning were looking to repeat their winning performance against local rivals Reading. The game started with a promising performance, with Sonning holding strong and maintaining good possession of the ball throughout the first half. After some fantastic team play, the ball was moved around with speed inside the D before Anne Oke put the ball past the keeper at close range, making the score 1-0 to Sonning at the half time interval.

Reading came back with more determination and began to get back into the game, putting more pressure on the Sonning defence from the beginning of the second half. Taking advantage of their pressure, Reading were able to put a goal away at close range after a slip in Sonning's concentration. Building on the upper hand they held, Reading continued to attack and scored a second goal after some good work through the middle of the pitch. This second goal for Reading jolted Sonning back into the game, who then stepped up the pace and began to get back into the game.

Gradually getting back on top of play, Sonning created several chances before wining a penalty corner. The ball was injected followed by an impressive straight strike from Pauline Baxter, the force of the ball going past the keeper despite getting a stick in the way. Although further chances were created at either end, the scoreline ended 2-2, a deserved result for both teams and a battle well fought.
