SONNING 4 - 0 MILTON KEYNES
13th October 2007

Sonning ladies have been working hard as a team this season, and the effort could certainly be witnessed from the start in this game against Milton Keynes. The home side got off to a strong start, working the ball around the pitch with pace. Before long Sonning were able to set up their first goal, which came from Katie Patterson after some good team work in and around the D.

Moving with confidence, Sonning continued to put on the pressure, and were rewarded with a further goal at a penalty corner; the ball was injected and put into the bottom left corner by Pauline Baxter, well out of the reach of the keeper. Sonning were able to put one more goal away before half time after some fantastic team play beginning at the back resulted in a goal from Bryony Olliff-Lee.

The second half continued in a similar vein to the first, with Sonning playing some very good team hockey all around the pitch, maintaining possession of the ball and remaining patient until the openings came up. Milton Keynes came close to scoring on several occasions, but were stopped by some solid defending. The midfield and forward lines worked well together, creating lots of spaces which led to many more chances for Sonning throughout the game. The blues were able to take advantage of one of these opportunities in the second half through open play by Bryony Olliff-Lee scoring her second goal of the game, taking the final score to 4-0.

A confident and well deserved win for Sonning, taking them into 4th place in the league.
