SONNING 2 - 2 MARLOW
3rd November 2007
This 6-pointer league match was going to be a good game from the very start. Sonning at once gained an upper, maintaining a strong possession of the ball throughout the first half. The home side dominated for a solid 35 minutes, creating many chances in front of the goal. Sonning scored the first goal after a pass from the right found Mai-Po Wan, who ran the ball into the D and slotted the ball past the keeper at close range. Spurred on by a well deserved goal, Sonning continued to create opportunities from all angles.
Before the half time interval, Sonning scored their second goal with what may turn out to be the goal of the season: the ball started at the back with a hit out, and was passed between 8 different Sonning players before the ball was slipped to Anneliese Churchill, who received the ball and fired the ball past the outstretched foot of the keeper at the left post.
During the 2nd half, Marlow began to get back into the game as Sonning's concentration began to slip. Despite creating further chances at goal, the home side were unable to score any more goals, and furthermore allowed Marlow to score 2 goals bringing the game back to a tie. An unfortunate result for Sonning, however they displayed a fantastic team performance for much of the game, and deserved to leave with 3 points.
