‘Still no cards!’

Sonning Ladies 4s Vs Oxford Hawks 5s

I should start with saying we have now achieved 4 wins on the bounce…..scoring 19 goals! The girls knew we had to win…3 wins on the trot just wasn’t enough. 4^th in the league and desperate to climb (no illusion we were ever going to catch up with the formidable Thame), but hope nevertheless!

The game on the whole was fairly boring to tell the truth….SL4s first half was slllloooowwwww….frustrating for all! The first half ended 1-0 SL4s, with a lovely goal from Matthews, on reflection the score board should have shown more, yet we just couldn’t convert.

SL4s found their feet, moved the ball around a lot quicker and encouraged the opposition to play round the sides. Interruption of Oxford Hawks play was fun and every bit annoying for the Hawks..…every ‘16’ was blocked and answered nicely with attacks on their goal! ‘A sea of blue’ is how the opposition described us….exactly what we wanted!

2^nd half saw another goal from Matthews, creeping past the keepers left post from a strike at the top of the ‘D’, 3^rd goal game from Swanborough which was assisted by Matthews with a lovely cross past goal to be hit home again on the keepers left post. The 4^th and final goal came from Tyler…sneaking the goal past the keepers right and safely in the back of the goal. Oxford Hawks did score….just the 1 mind, another tainted score sheet for Scales in the 4s!!!

SL4s did the job….winning 4-1 and for a whole 2hrs & 32mins were 3^rd in the League!!! Well worth the Facebook status updates….

Well Done SL4s – 3^rd in the league over the Christmas break would be great!!
